IBM Australia, from time to time, supports and encourages you in the wider community.  In this page you will find initiatives which you may find useful and interesting for your own career in business or in retirement.

Coming soon:  The company also intends to use these pages to for communications with QCC members, whether still in harness or retired.  For instance, advice and assistance in preparing for retirement - revisit this space periodically for more on this.

IBM's On Demand Community volunteer program provides a range of resources to assist you to help your local communities. The website contains tools to help schools and not for profit organisations.

IBM retirees can not only access these tools but also apply for grants of cash and equipment for eligible organisations. If you volunteer 40 hours over five consecutive months for an eligible not for profit organisation IBM will give $1600 or a laptop or desktop (to value of $3500) to your school or not for profit organisation. If you use a tool from the website, the amount increases to two pieces of equipment (to value of $5500).
Applications close 31st October each year.

On Demand Community also allows you to utilise the IBM network of ODC registrants to assist your not for profit organisation. If you have a volunteer opportunity coming up which IBM employees may be interested in, please contact the On Demand Community team on odc@au1.ibm.com

The Greater IBM Connection

The Greater IBM Connection aims to make your relationship with Big Blue a lifelong and invaluable experience.

The Greater IBM Connection is the online social network where current, former and future IBMers around the world can connect, communicate and collaborate.

As part of the IBM network, you will be given access to people who share your experience, and understand IBM's values and capabilities.
The Greater IBM Connection will allow you to:

• Renew contacts with IBM colleagues, and forge new ones;
• Generate new business opportunities;
• Find career opportunities and skilled people;
• Organise events, whether in person, online or in a virtual environment; and
• Propose ideas or projects in the forums that will spark or create a new opportunity.

Make sure you provide as much detail as possible in your profile to ensure you get the most benefit. Like all social networks, Greater IBM will grow, and flourish, through the actions of Greater IBMers: by inviting contacts and introducing them to other members, and by starting initiatives or projects that will engage the community.
